email mozilla doesn't show avast has scanned message
« on: July 26, 2012, 07:36:38 AM »
Hi guys,
I want Avast to scan my incoming email in Mozilla Thunderbird.
I have set the Avast scanner settings to do this, but when I open my email client..  it does not show a " scanned by Avast" message in the bottom of my incoming email.
I need advice on how to configure my email client..(Mozilla Thunderbird) to effect this.
Could you be so kind, as to tell me how to fix this?
Thank you.

Hello Pondus,
I have looked hard at this. I don't see anything anywhere that says SSL/TLS. (in my Mozilla Thunderbird settings.)
The thing is, that I used to have this function ( Avast has scanned your email and found no virus') at the bottom of the email page.
So it is a bit of an enigma to me.
What I have done, is  uninstall and reinstall Mozilla Thunderbird.
But, no difference.
What you say Bro ?

..when you say .."this has been removed  from latest edition"
Does that mean..that the email is still scanned, but there is no longer a function that shows eg:  "no virus found in this incoming message"

Hello Pondus,
The email client that I am using is Mozilla Thunderbird.
not client....account...like gmail/yahoo..... i thought you ment that avast did not scan your mail at all
then it often has to do with SSL/TLS settings.....if you have a account that use that

but the inserted NO VIRUS message is removed from latest version....it does not have any funcktion
if a virus was detected it would tell you  ;)    so why tell you that it was not detected

Well, it could be my bad, but my analogy, is a warning light on a car dashboard. "All systems are functioning correctly"
Not "some systems are disfunctional"
More, that if our system is disfunctual , you will never know.

You need to go into your thunderbird server settings and set the security to none for incoming and outgoing for avast to be able to scan your mail.

Craigb and Pondus:
Thank you for your response.
I do appreciate your willingness to help.
I get a bit curt at times, but it is no reflection on you.
Simply, I want the "message" inserted into my incoming email.
If , it is no longer a function, I will deal with that.
I just question .
But more importantly, I want to feel assured that Avast is properly functioning on my computer.
I think that Avast is a super cool and effective Antivirus scanning system, and all I want , is to have the full protection that it offers.
