The Avast On access scanner

Hi. On the trayicon I have s small red circle attached to it, kinda looks like a small stop sign... Is it supposed to be there? Also when I rightclick and select On-Access Protection Control I run into problems. It starts fine, but when I try to select a resident task, no matter which task I select and try to start, I get the error message: The requested resident task was not found! The operation could not be completed

Does anyone know how to fix that? Thanks

Try this,

go to add/remove programs

then click on avast

and do a repair.

Got it to work    I rebooted the machine twice, and then it worked. But thanks for the swift reply!!
