Yes, it is and i am doing something right now. Seems you are right about CM9; there are some patches in the kernel from CM boys which is not very well handled by avast code. AOPK ROM is OK, but CM night builds and some builds of CM7 is showing such a behavior. May be the limit of the data update should be change. Anyway thx for report.

I am running gingerbread tho and not running CM.

I have noticed a quicker battery drain too since installing this beta.  I am running on a stock verizon galaxy nexus with ICS.  I turned off the network stats and will see how that goes.  One thing I don't see is any reference to avast in the battery usage stats.  Is that something the application has to configure to or is that up to the OS to measure?

its up to the OS to measure. If there is no usage reported, there is no usage.

Yeah Avast beta is a battery killer. Not sure why but it is behaving itself so far with network meter ticked.

Do you see it in the battery usage stats in the OS? If so, how many percent does it have?

Personally, I don't see it showing up there at all.  Even after I run a virus scan and messing around within the app for a few minutes.

I have I think worked out what is going on. It is not by itself sucking the battery BUT the amount of the processor it sometimes uses for no apparent reason is worrying, which of course leads to the battery drain. 18 per cent plus of processing power is taken by AMS which you sure you all won't be shocked to know is taking the most processing power, many many times over then the next badly behaved app.

Since we all see 0%, I think there must be a bug somewhere. Do you think that you could, when you see avast! misbehave, go to Settings-About-Send feedback, tick all the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen and send it? I'll see if I can come up with something from that.

After uninstalling the beta only because of the fact that my processor was clocking in at 100 per cent and the phone getting so hot it was unholdable, most of that 100 per cent was due to AMS (beta) I noticed that while scanning with the non beta, it was using about 37 per cent I was thinking oh no not again but when it had finished it went down to normal levels. I don't think AMS beta scales down after scanning or maybe it could be something completely different.

Hi,

just checked and there is no evidence of AMS misbehaving. I will add more system info to the next version and will ask you to try it and send me the feedback again once it's released.
