No problems but, adaware is old and outdated technology. I would suggest uninstalling it and replacing it
with Malwarebytes.

Since the subject mentions Ad aware free antivirus, then generally the answer would be NO.

Later versions of AdAware may have an antivirus module, but we don't exactly what version of AdAware you have, if it includes an antivirus module then a custom install and not installing that module would be the only way to go.

That said, I too don't feel that AdAware is anyway near what it was years ago in comparison to its competitors.

@Sizzerb: You are advised to only use 1 realtime AV at the same time. Decide which one you want to keep and uninstall the other one. My vote goes to keeping avast!. :D

@Bob3160: Actually the new Ad-Aware product appears to be using the Vipre engine so detection should be on par i guess. They did extremely well in the latest VB RAP test:

@ Mike,
My remarks where strictly related to adaware not the AV at all.
I read his post not the topic so didn't catch what David obviously did.
Only one resident AV at a time and before you install a new one, you need to fully remove the old one.  :)

This has changed a lot lately. See comparative tests and you'll see how they improve...

Changed or not with an antivirus module, it is clearly not compatible unless the AV module isn't installed. That then only leaves their normal AdAware adware stuff and I still feel MBAM the better option.

Sure. Just that the information of weakness is not precise nowadays.

Not as good as MBAM (One of it's competitors. :) )

Bob they don't offer a standalone version of their anti-spyware anymore, they are fully commited to their AV suits it would appear. Instead of comparing to MBAM it would make more sense to compare with avast!. Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+ is a direct competitor to avast! Free...

All the more reason to remove this from your system since it's installation actually installed a second AV to your computer
which, as we all know, is NEVER a good move.  MBAM is still the recommended program for malware removal. :)

Beware, old versions of Ad-aware with Antivirus Free had nasty driver bug that caused BSOD's when installing other security software. It has been fixed in the very latest version!
