Yes, I'm glad you like it guys... I would like to get more feedback from avast! users though... bottom line, I make skins 80% because of avast! users, rest 20% is because I really adore what I do...

CoJo is away for few days/weeks, and I hope she has internet access over there, but anyway, I can't wait to see her again in these forums... hold on girl, we're always gonna be here for you !

We want our little happy birdie back !!!

I got it but what are the dropdown buttons for?  I can't get mine to show anything if I try to click on them.

I would like to try making a Ferrari Enzo or Ferrari 512BB skin. But have PaintShop Pro and not PhotoShop. And the 'tutorial' isn't helping me much either :'(

As you can see, there are no dropdown buttons, it's just part of the design, nothing else. If I made those pieces just plain blue (without down-arrows), that wouldn't be Mac-Styled design enymore... Everyone should now by now that those sliding panels you can activate by pressing corecponding buttons, and those two are Local Disks, Removable Media and Resident Scanner. That's why we have those buttons, don't we ?  ;) Also, we never had those drop down buttons before...

No one ever said you need PaintShop for making skins. To be true, I made some of crucial graphics with Windows Built-in plain Paint, believe it or not. Usually, and 99% of my work is done using Fireworks, not PainShop. I have it, but I don't use it at all. Sometimes I just start it to add some effects on pictures, nothing else.

It doesn't matter which program do you use, it matters how you use it. There is no rule that you have to make avast! skins with some particular program. Any drawing program that you are comfortable with is good enough... c'mon it's just graphics we are talking about. Then you need SkinBuilder by SoftShape to compile all those graphics into one compact unit and that's it... no, no way... Photoshop is not the only tool people should use. I can make some nice effects with Firewoks as well... Fireforks is mostly for optimizing pictures, but it can be used for anything if you are willing enough to experiment  ;)

Cheers !

Well, I would definitly say it's good for everybody. Good thing with Photoshop is 'cause there is millions of tutorial files on the internet, some of them are available as PDF files, so it's very easy to learn some basic moves. Fireworks is not complicated at all. I started with DeLuxe Paint on Amiga 500, but when I switched to PC, I started to use Paint, and some freeware drawing tools. After a while I decided that I need something with more functions and effects, something more user friendly... then I found Macromedia  :)

Bad thing about Fireworks is that is ain't freeware ;)
And besides that I am really a "noob" when it comes to graphics.

User friendly?  Defiantly not to people like me

Programs like Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver will never be freeware, and I don't have anything against it. Those are masterpieces, colosal programs. Untill last year, I was using my trial that I bought with Macromedia Bibles (768 pages each book, 2 books), but now I'm lucky 'cause my friend gave me whole package completely for free. Actually, it wasn't for free, I had to design logo and brand sign for his company once and some other web design related stuff, he remembered that and he said, thisis yours, just like that... He bought himself 2 Macs, he already got some nasty software, and he gave away his whole PC. It's not the high-end PC, but it's still good for some testings. Best of all, Macromedia is twice as expensive as his PC.

Photoshop is not freeware either...  ;)

Cheers !
