Downloading beta2 file
« on: August 16, 2012, 02:58:25 AM »
About an hour ago (20:00 eastern US time, 15 August) I needed to re-download beta. Stock browser kept closing. So I tried in Windows. When I clicked the link, it was a mess of foreign characters. But somehow or other I did download it and it appears to be AvastMobileSecurity_2_Beta2.zip. Unzipped, looks like the structure of Beta1, slightly larger, so I suppose I can rename it to .apk and use it on Android tablet.
Right? Wrong? Silent issue of second beta?

Hi,

What browser do you use? I've tested it on Chrome (Mac and Windows) and the file is an APK. Technically, APK is ZIP. On the server, those files are named .APK and they should be downloaded like that.

Regrads,

Well, here it is, replicated today. Normal click on the link does something weird

This sort of thing hasn't happened to me ever before.
BTW, I pushed it over to my Thrive with ICS, renamed to .apk, installed and is looking great other than the invisible grey-on-grey arrows to see more.
Also, when I downloaded yesterday, I did not see your notes, which I see today, that it even was updated!
