Are the streaming updates handled by a different server system than the VPS updates?  That could explain why some people were getting streaming updates and others weren't.

If the streaming updates weren't propagating to all servers of that system, whether one received a streaming update would depend on if the server assigned to his IP range was getting propagated to.  OTOH, the VPS updates were propagated properly.  That would explain the discrepancies.

I think I spoke too soon, the issue appears to have returned.

I have received no streaming updates for some 17 hours.  Last one was 19 August at 19:32 BST / GMT+1.

Try to uncheck not only the streaming updates but the file reputation service too. It helped to me.

Thanks George.  Yes I did do that also.  I've done it again and rebooted modem and PC and it streaming updates do seem to be working again.
I will keep a watchful eye on it for a while.

Still same problem here.  Am assuming issue is something to do with Avast's servers perhaps?

Anyone from Avast care to comment?  Thanks.

Strange that you are also in the UK and I don't have problems, I'm with BT so I don't know if there might be any issue with your ISPs DNS server.

I've been with TalkTalk since last October and this is the first time I've noticed this problem.  I reinstalled Avast again today and the streaming updates appear to be working again, latest timed at 14:01 BST (GMT+1).

If you are able to try using OpenDNS for your DNS server (I can't using BT Infinity), see http://use.opendns.com/ for how to use.

To get started http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions/parental-controls/ select one of the two Free options (whichever is applicable) and click the Sign-up button.
