United States cyber security virus
« on: September 05, 2012, 12:49:44 AM »
My computer was infected with United States Cyber Security virus and Avast did not prevent it. Was identified on next scan but I am still having problems with Windows shutting down. Anyone else having problems?

Hi Brabus

No antivirus has 100% detection, these ransoms are changing daily.

If you have access to your computer itself.

Please attach the following logs. (MBAM, OTL and aswMBR), in your next reply

Instructions: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Thanks

You are talking about this ransomware, right? Cause it's definitely not a virus, the definition is entirely different for viruses.

Anyway, it could be that the ransom Trojan messed up Windows registry or even files rather badly. That's why you're experiencing problems.

Have you tried scanning your computer with second opinion malware scanners just to make sure there were no remnants left behind? Hitman Pro, for example.

OTL log would be nice tho.
