what was your issue with direct write?

The most recent anti-theft version I wound up having to install through an update.zip on my Nexus 7 since android 4.2 changed the file system around, Avast wasn't able to write directly to the system. But yet on my old Samsung Vibrant it installed without problems...

Figured out my issue, after upgrading my tablet to 4.2 wound up losing root as the way I had it super user wasn't working. Wound up having to switch over to Super Su.

I just had the issue where clicking on the install button appears to do nothing.  I saw someone mention a screen filter so I disabled "Luminosity" and was then able to install - wasted a lot of time before I found this thread - can't there be a message or a help button or something?

sorry we do not have a list of the conflicting apps. its a system thing, the apps somehow confuse the installer (dont ask me how).

Hi,

This setting requires a rooted phone. Do you use a rooted one?

Why is anti-theft upgrade asking me to check "unknown sources" for installation of non-downloaded from Google play applications. Is this a legitimate application or not? I have 4.1.2 android on LG P880  v20A EUR. Thank you!

its only if you choose "advanced installation mode" because this one builds a special "custom name" package on our servers for you. its legitimate.

If Avast Anti-Theft fails to install Rooted, you might try using Edify Update.Zip for ICS or Jelly Bean. I have a Brand New Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android Operating System 4.2.2 and Edify for Jelly Bean does the trick (even though I have one release newer than Jelly Bean, the problem might be that your phone is NAND Protected).
