Avast and MailEnable?
« on: January 15, 2005, 09:37:45 PM »
I am having a bit of a problem. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 ( NOT SERVER ) and Mail enable as my personal mail server as my DSL doesn't not provide any email abilities. My MailEnable was running great until I installed Avast. Now when the MailEnable DIAG is run, port 127.0.0.1 avast fails.

This is preventing my MailEnable to function properly as it appears that both Avast and MailEnable both want to manage/monitor ports 25 and 110. MailEnable is reading Avast as another SMTP server and this creates a conflict.

How can I resolve this issue?

So as I see it, I end up with 2 SMTP servers running on my IP and both on the same ports.

I was hoping to use Avast as the mail scanner on the server so mail is checked before it goes to my other desktops.

I hope this all makes sense... I have a small mail server running on Windows XP Pro SP2 and need to have a good anti-virus running, so I was hoping to use avast for this.

Any help or ideas would be great.
