Avast free blocking Outlook Express

Hi,
I tryed several versions of avast and they block my POP3 account with the mail shield. When i turn it off everything
works fine. The account is POP3 without SSL. My OS is W2k SP4. I was trying also differents configuration of the mail shield, like including the mail account in the SSL account section with no encryption. I haven't a firewall also and avast is the only security program on the system. Any help will be welcome. Regards.

try to delete the account in avast mail shiled settings, reboot and try outlook again

Yes, i did and it doesn't work. I think there must be an issue with the avast free 4.8; it was installed and unistalled on the system. Please if anyone may tell me where to look for to fix it. Thanks in advance.
