Avast 7 and 8 and Windows firewall
« on: February 21, 2013, 06:18:20 PM »
Hi, is anyone experiencing this bug with Windows Firewall and Avast 7? With Avast7, Windows firewall does not block your internet traffic.   For example, if I told Windows Firewall to block Acronis the logs would indicate that the Acronis attempt to access the internet was blocked, however he could freely connect to the internet. If I were to disable the webshield then Acronis would not be able to access the internet.   Thanks.

Windows 8 x 64 and clean install of Avast 7 or 8.

Hello slayer76, welcome to the forums.

This is a known issue, some firewalls can't recognize / block traffic between software and WebShield.
Lukor (WebShield developer) created a tool which can configure Windows Firewall to block software while using WebShield, so if you interested in it, please see this:

For the time being, you can set WebShield to scan common browser traffics only, which makes firewall enable to block connections except browsers.
You can find this settings in avast! Main Window -> Shields -> Web Shield -> Expert Settings.
Desktop: Win10 Pro 22H2 64bit / Core i5-7400 3.0GHz / 32GB RAM / Avast 23 Premium Beta(Icarus) / Comodo Firewall
Notebook: Win10 Pro 22H2 64bit / Core i5-3340M 2.7GHz / 12GB RAM / Avast 23 Free / Windows Firewall Control
Server: Win11 Pro 23H2 64bit / Core i3-4010U 1.7GHz / 12GB RAM / Avast One 23 Essential
