Repair

So i recently got avast!, and it detects more viruses than my old software, however, every single virus it has detected, i've tried to repair, and every single time it has failed/ not been able to. What's going on? being able to repair viruses instead of just moving them to the chest would be something that i certainly need to be able to do. Does anyone know what's going on/how to fix it? More than one response would be useful, just in case one doesn't work

99% of today's viruses are not really viruses, but rather worms, trojans, etc. There's no "repair" for them, because they are not file infectors (there's no original file to revert to) - the only possible repair for those files is "delete", which is actually what you want to do.
