Thanks for the try, but it didn't make a difference.

Couldn't hurt to download Flock to see if you can access and post a topic or whatever you wanted to do.  If you have the same problem just uninstall it

Well, I tried installing Flock and got a page with a message about there being too many redirects at this site, etc., etc.

I'm having enough troubles now so I aborted this effort.

That's strange.  I didn't get any messages when I downloaded it.  It's the browser I'm using to access this forum.

Never. I just got my machine yesterday, went through the tutorial and wanted to ask some questions and/or find some answers so I registered on the forum.

Yes, I have cleaned out cookies, several times, cache, etc.

Probably a silly question but did you download Avast before you registered on the forum?

I've had Avast for a couple of years or more.

The strange part is that you where able to join:

which meant you actually reached the site once.
It's also obvious that I have no problems getting to their site.

I never did have any problem getting to the site or logging in, being able to select a specific forum. But I can't read a post, and I can't post.

Let's confuse this issue further ... ::)

I typed that error code from the Chrome page into Google and just started going down the line and opening up each item and reading. I found something about checking to see if another person still had this problem when using Chrome incognito. So then I Googled how to use Chrome incognito. I did this and I was able to click open and read the posts. So that would seem to say that it's an add-on causing the problem, right? Only I have very few add-ons. The very last one I installed was XMarks.

I also have XMarks on Firefox. But I do not have it on IE and I can't reach this site on IE either.

Maybe there is another forum that's similar to the one you can't access.    Whenever I want to find a specific forum/discussion board I
always ask jeeves....aj.com and so far I've been able to find what I was looking for.

I used to use the Chrome web browser but didn't like it all that well so I uninstalled it.

Strange that you don't have a problem posting on this forum and are unable to post on the other one.

Yes, this whole matter is very, VERY strange. I think I have stumbled on a possible cause.

LastPass. That is another thing that both of my computers have in common. I would never have thought it. I posted in their forum and see I have an answer from them this morning. I checked out both IE and Firefox in the private browsing mode wherein LastPass is not active and was able to open posts in the forum in both browsers.

I haven't checked out their email yet but will post back after I do. I love LastPass and wouldn't be without it, but it is really frustrating to think that I spent 2 days chasing around after this problem and it was my password manager all the time. Why on earth would that cause a problem like this and not affect any of my other logins?!

A curious thing too ... Even if I go into LastPass and copy my password from it BEFORE I put any of the browsers into the incognito mode, I still can't login and post in this forum. Hopefully they will have a fix for me.

I've been using LastPass for a long time without any problem and just as this problem is not avast! related,
I think it also isn't LastPass related.
I suggest you check with the forum itself and find out why you're having this problem.
