Where did my Outlook go???
« on: January 24, 2005, 02:50:04 AM »
Hello all...I just started using Avast after reading many positive reviews, but there is a hitch...when I try to fire up my Outlook 2000, it opens for about two seconds and then shuts down :'(.  I dunno what's happening here.  Just for reference, I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2004 just before I installed the home version.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

Did you remove NAV completely (including the registry keys)?
Did you use the NAV uninstall util?

No, I didn't use the utility, couldn't find one.  I used the 'remove/add programs' feature in control panel.  I had numerous error messages, to which I responded 'ignore', as it was the only way to make it work.  I know many people have had their share of nightmares with Norton, why do I feel as though mine is just beginning??

- uninstall Avast
- reboot
- uninstall NAV completely using the util (link is in many many threads here)
- reboot
- install Avast (make sure you are logged in as administrator [XP Pro], or as user with admin rights [XP Home])
- reboot

Does this solve the problem?
