Hi emilemma,
Welcome to Avast! Forums.  ;)
Have you checked your screen resolution ?
Are any other objects skewed or not displaying properly ?
May be worth checking your 'Display and Monitor' settings, if you haven't already.  Just a thought.  :)

Being a Linux program we can use the commandline which can be very useful.
Avast! For Linux - Command Line Guide

Open a Terminal > Type in avast > or, "avast --help" if you'd like to see all options.

Regards

emilemma , as you point out:

But:

it does display inlinux mint debian...

Raise the issue with 'ubu devs' is possibly an option. Their may be a package discrepancy, who knows. :(
Avast! does it's best to be as broad an AV for Linux distros as possible. As you report it displays properly on Linux Mint.

Did you try using the command Line ?
No quotes:

"avast"      (Scans "home/user/")
"avast -a"        "               "
"avast --testall"   (Default)  test all files, regardless of extension or content (default)

It's actually very fast !  ;)
