The usual cause of that error is an AV holding open registry keys..  However you do not have another AV so it is back to research

There may be some delays due to differing time zones (we do sleep) and availability of the volunteer malware removal specialists, etc.

Not to mention this is something which neither of us have come across before and essexboy has tried to escalate this to one of the moderators (avast staff) as this we feel needs more in depth knowledge of the program than we as avast users have.

You said you've uninstalled AVG. Just to humor us, would you please run the following:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=102237.msg818406#msg818406
and let us know if it shows any Antivirus programs other than avast!

I'm currently at a family members house for around five days, I'll test that program when I get back.

It only says I have the Microsoft security installed.

YES. You should only run one ondemand Antivirus program at a time.
Since, in my opinion, avast! is the best choice, removing MSE is a no brainer.  :D

I was wondering, could someone send all of the files for avast, then I could put it in programs files? Or wouldn't that work? Still don't have security.

That won't work as the program files have to be registered within windows registry, etc. and the program files folder isn't the only area that files/data is stored.
