Free and still use it after one year?

I heard people who use it can use it free>after one year>they can still use it free yes? I downloaded the free version here http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/comments/ and so far so good.

You'll receive a reminder appr. 2 weeks before the year is up asking you to renew your free version.
Once you've done that you're good to go for another year.
I've been using the free version since 2003.

You just have to re-register it each year it is still free, I have been using the free version of avast for eight and a half years.

Like Dave and Bob (and no doubt many many others), I've been using the free version of avast for many years now.  Registration (and renewal of same) is a snap, especially since as of a year or two ago it can now be handled either by email, the traditional method, or directly online.
