AEA firewall ports, client language & admin.ini
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:59:20 AM »
I have several questions:

  • Which firewall ports need to be open on the AEA server (7.0.306) and on the client (7.0.1455)? The documentation is not completely clear http://goo.gl/uZ9dG
  • I want to change the language of the client during install is this possible?
  • Is there documentation for the admin.ini (installation package)?

  • The list of ports in the KB article is complete. These are the ports that the management console uses for inbound and outbound connections.
The clients are binding random ports, so if you have a desktop firewall on the client machines, simply add an exception for the "avast! Enterprise Client Service" i.e. "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast Business\adnmSvc.exe".
  • See below.
  • Use the avast5.ini as a template. Every setting there can be used in admin.ini including the settings for the languages.

Unfortunately not.

The file is located in:
- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast
- C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast

Thanks I found the avast5.ini file.

As I understand from http://goo.gl/uZ9dG all ports are tcp except for port 16133 which is udp, is my assumption correct?

Is there any other way to change the language in the package than the avast5.ini ?

Even after adding the C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast Business\adnmSvc.exe as exception to the firewall the 'apply to' function doesn't work.
Also after deploying the client, the install is successful both no reboot.
After working for 5 years with the predecessor of AEA ADNM (without a glitch) I'm getting disappointed with AEA!
