I have a file in my virus chest. What happens to that file if I was to delete it?

It will be deleted, if it's a detection that has been there for a few weeks and you have had no adverse affects then it should be safe to delet, you can also re-scan the file from within the chest to see if it is still detected and if not it maybe a false positive.

it will end up in virus heaven   
what it should have done was send it back to the creator so it could haunt him for the rest of his computer life
