Possible to use/install with out google signin/apps

Hi all, I was just wondering if it was possible to install and use avast! Android (+Antitheft) without needing a google sign-in. (or to get a version that does)

I am ask because I would like to reduce my internet use and dependency on other networks, as I already have a custom setup for contacts/calendar sync, and installing cyanogenmod w/o gapps is my ultimate goal.
As for app updates, I have a device that will still have gapps installed.

Getting the app isn't the problem - As I kind of hinted at above - but rather connecting the avast! account to the device requires a google sign-in.

Hi,

you won't be able to connect to avast! Account without Google services (as said on your screenshot), but you can use all the other parts of the app without a problem (you can still use the Anti-Theft via SMS).

Out of curiosity, why?

Also, It seems to work if I restore the data from a Ti Backup, but I didn't test the account functionality.

As it says, Google Cloud Messaging is used to communicate between the device and the server, without support of that protocol inside your system, you can't use it.

Alrighty then. I would have thought that the could have been other ways to do it, but I suppose it works.

I'll just have to hold off on the no gapps for now then.

There might be some, no arguing about that, it's just that right now the use of GCM is the easiest, fastest and probably even the cheapest way how to do it. The only downside is that it doesn't work on devices without GCM We might try to do it in some other way in the future, but it's not in our priority list at the moment, sorry.
