Ports disposition
« on: January 27, 2005, 06:12:24 PM »
I just installed AVAST! 4.5 Edition Familiale, and to go on playing FLIGHT SIMULATOR with my team association on the Net, with TEAMSPEAK to talk, instructions ask me for “incoming and outgoing ports 6073 ad 23456 be open in UDP”.
How can I do that, or check that it’s OK? ???
I’m extra low educated in computer technology, and I’ve not even be able to find access to infos about Ports disposition with AVAST!, except 25 for SMTP and 110 for POP3, without possibility to alter them (not recommended for email as far as I know).
Please help me with basic instructions!

Avast is a av application, not a firewall.
A firewall is for blocking ports.
Check your firewalls manual to see how to open/close ports.

Tk's Eddy for such a prompt reply.
I understand that Ports disposition is not the object of antivirus programs. Av prgms just check for presence or not of known virus on applications. Nothing to deal with Ports disposition.
Computer technology is very complex for non breed-in people! I'm 72 over!
Sorry for disturbance, and tks for lesson and help.

My oldest client is older than you (female, 82 years) :D

Have a look at this website : http://www.webopedia.com/
It has many computer terms explained. May come in handy ;)

Congratulations for y'll, and pass on her too. This proves that it's something out of age, and over ages 7 to 77! 0.7 to 107?
