If you are using the regular release version 7.0.1466, and the repair failed - 'Error processing packages. Please use full update.' - then this worked for me:

Then you will need to do a Manual update of VPS - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download VPS Update (virus definitions, vpsupd.exe, approx 67.5 MB). - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.

Thanks David! This worked for me. (Windows XP)

Are you guys getting the "Invalid file signature.  Setup will Terminate." error also?

Yes most will have got that error amongst others, depending on what you tried to resolve it. What is outlined in Reply #5 worked for me on the regular avast version, but failed on the beta version 7.0.1468.

I got a ping saying it has been updated but it only says 121003-1. I guess 121003-2 has been recalled

Avast update now shows 121003-1 as current, while http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history shows 121003-2 as the latest.  Downloaded streaming updates have a "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\12100302_stream" folder.  However, the error message is no longer there.

This is the second day in a row that updating has failed for me. The download I received for the manual update was from 10/03. At this rate I'm going to ditch AVAST.

VPS updated to 121004-0 this afternoon, and recently updated to 121005-0.  It seems updates are back to normal again.

This sure is looking like it's related to what I had previously mentioned a couple of times in past days that I was getting Double SAME Updates and that the Update Version Numbers on the Green Popups did not match the GUI Update Version Numbers.

Yes, the VPS version 121004-0 corrected the problem, so things should be back to normal.
