Windows Defender Submitting Avast File For Review on Clean OS
« on: October 04, 2012, 06:43:28 AM »
Yesterday I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my HP Laptop. After the installation I first installed Avast and updated it. After few hours a message was shown that Windows Defender wants to submit files for review. I checked which files it is sending since my laptop still do not have any other applications installed nor it has any data. To my surprise it was submitting Avasts aswJsFlt.dll, is something wrong here? Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Also isn't Defender should be turned off by Avast?
What steps I need to take further? I'm attaching the screenshot of Defender for reference.

Hello TusharG,

This sometimes happens, I have seen similar file submission dialog before.
I think there is no need to worry, as avast has its own virus definition inside it, so Windows defender might treat it as suspicious.

Since you have Avast and it covers much more than Defender, you might as well turn Defender off.

Thanks a lot NON and CharleyO for replying. I will check how to turn off the Windows Defender. I was hoping that Avast will do that automaticall during installation.

Sometimes it does turn off Defender and sometimes not. It's one of those little mysteries.

And you are welcome to any help I am able to give.
