Avast is not removing this malware. How do I uninstall it or otherwise remove it from my computer. I did a root scan and it's still there.

welcome to the forum. i suggest you follow this guide.

you could try a boot scan as an option if avast finds the infection but not be able to deal with it. sometimes a boot scan can solve that problem.

but i suggest you follow the guide first.
