Ok, i'll leave it for a day.
The laptop has mainly been running with the internet disconnected, so is it ok to have it connected to the internet?

Have the logs told you anything about there being a virus?

I wanted to add, that norton was not reporting the ramnit, it was microsoft support emergency response tool.
Should I run this to see if it still reports ramnit?

I'm getting a new laptop today and wanted to know if transfering over JPEG files and Photoshop files are safe to do?
Could you give me a list of files that are safe to transfer over?

Exe, scr, htm, html files are the main ones that are infected with this.  But prudence would dictate that all other files are scanned prior to transfer.  Avast can clean Ramnit

Hello, i've downloaded avast and un-installed norton. Avast hasn't reported any ramnit nor has malwarebytes although I did use quick scan for both.
Should I do a full scan with avast?

Transfered over JPEG and photoshop files to the new computer.

Computer seems to be running ok, no issues.

I was wondering if I should change any passwords to e-mail accounts, ebay, paypal, etc, due to the ramnit?

And finally, is the computer safe to use now?

Prudence would always dictate that you change passwords, there is no such thing as overkill there

If any Ramnit was present Avast would detect it, so subject to the usual proviso that I can see no further malware then yes you can use the system
