[SOLVED] Avast runs in terminal but no GUI
« on: October 21, 2012, 10:57:32 PM »
Hi

Just installed Debian flavour Avast on my Crashbang OSed laptop and it runs in the terminal okay scanning files, etc. However if I type avast in the run menu there is no GUI and Avast doesn't run.

Any thoughts what might be causing this?

Thanks.

You need to run avastgui to get the GUI.

Avast is running in the terminal but note the database date: 2009!

Run update-avast from a terminal, or click the Update button on the GUI.

Then you'll run into this issue:

Followed your advice and Avast is now working perfectly.

Thanks.
