Updating using the installer causes registration info to be lost (plus, the new reg system SUCKS! What the hell has FB to do with an AV product?).
(Actually I kinda hate the need to register the FREE version, any chance to make registration optional???)
Updating via the GUI preserves it, though.
Everything else seems fine (don't know about webrep, since I didn't select it).

c ya!

Everything seems to be in order, absolutely no trouble updating via the GUI.  Thank you Avast for extensively testing and making sure this release is bug free with that long beta period.

On a side note, Firefox 17 is going to be released in 4-5 weeks from now and the the script shield currently doesn't work for Firefox 17 beta.  I always use the stable release which is Firefox 16 as of right now so it doesn't matter to me yet, but just a reminder.

WebRep not work - matter what browser no Search Results
everything else ok
(Win XP SP3 Avast Free)

Did u try going to Firefox 16.0.1 and clicking on add-ons and re-enabling it?

This could also have something to do with firefox blocking 3rd party plug-ins to start with, but I did an uninstall/install of the firefox in the avastUI (restarting firefox accordingly) and it still isn't working in FF 16.0.1, but it is in IE8.

So I'm not going to get excited about it, when it gets sorted fine, you still have the full protection of the network, web & script shields.

Uh.. okay! I didn't have that issue with Firefox 16.0.1. Hope when Firefox 17 comes out I think it will get fixed automatically!

Hey avast! team! :)

I updated today and my windows 7 - 64 bit system, was having a hard time to boot. I was stuck for 5 minutes at loading, black screen 1-2 minutes and then windows finally booted. Now it looks okay - after the restart (although it took ages and my machine is fresh and clean).

Perhaps it's not a bug - but I thought I'd post it here.

P.S Thanks for the update and the great software you're providing, makes me feel secure. :)

with best regards

Just did an in-program update and so far everything looks good and went smoothly.  As I do not use WebRep, I can't say if any of these issues popped up--all my previous settings were preserved so nothing was modified here.

Avast messes with my download speed.  My partner's laptop (no Avast) downloads at 101 Mbps.  My laptop with Avast running was downloading at 7 Mbps, with Avast disabled achieving 25 Mbps.  Installed the new version and download speed has dropped to 5 Mbps.  All reported speeds measured with an ethernet cable connection.  Not happy !!

I did the update via the Avast User Interface, and when it completed it asked me to click to re-boot which I did. Upon rebooting the bootup went good to the Welcome screen and the screen went black with the pointer showing, which is normal, but after about 50 seconds the little power light fizzled and just flickered and the boot up failed. I forced a shutdown and tried 3 more times with no success. I then restored to a previous snapshot with Rollback Rx and successfully booted up. Can anyone suggest a solution to make the update succeed where I can re-boot with the new update. I'm using Avast! Pro. Thanks in advance.  :P

It looks like I'm successfully updated but I had a strange issue while doing it from the GUI. It said stage 1/3 initializing please wait and nothing else happened. The progress bar didn't move, no notification of files being downloaded was given, it just stuck on stage one. Then a bar came up saying "warning, reboot required". I rebooted, got the screen that said the update was almost done and it says I have the new version and so far everything seems okay.

That's the first time I've ever had any kind of issue while updating the program from the GUI. It gives me an uneasy feeling wondering whether everything is truly okay.

It never changed from stage one.  This happened on the Win7 64 machine. I haven't tried the others yet.

Just updated the XP machine and it worked normally. Everything seems okay.

Just updated to this version - not sure what I was on, but I assume it was the latest production version before this - and I have to disable network and/or web shields to get things to work. Browser (chrome, altho firefox was OK) don't work, email (thunderbird) does not work, Jungledisk (cloud drive) does not work ...

I submitted a ticket about Chrome not working, because I thought that was a re-occurence of a Chrome/Avast incompat - but then saw that Jungledisk and thunderbird have problems. Not sure where to go from here... Running with all shields off at the moment so I can get some work done.
