HUZZAH! At last, version 1466!! ;D

Thanks so very, very much for your help! We installed and restarted and the computer booted properly. :) Hopefully a fix will be applied soon!

Your welcome, no idea why the new release doesn't work for some but im sure the avast guys are looking in to it.

Himochi, what is your OS? Do you have other security apps (MBAM, MS Defender, etc.) installed?

Thanks to all who posted here.
It took awhile, but this whole routine worked for me ..... (so far)
I did make sure though to change my settings so the program will not automatically update.  I'll wait for avast! to post a fix before updating again.
