If you want/need to un-install, go to settings--> Applications --> Manage Applications --> Avast
touch the 'Clear Data' button, and when the data has been cleared, you can un-install
(Worked for me on a Sony Xperia U)

If you didn't install the Anti-Theft rooted, factory reset will delete it. Note that you will lose all your data doing so.

So you didn't install it rooted, right? And you do a factory reset (= restore the device to factory settings meaning it's in the same state it was when you bought the device), lose all your data, but Anti-Theft is still there?

Hi I have a similar problem, but I can uninstall the app from the play store.
It keeps asking for the 4 to 6 digit pin which, it says pin recovery not set and please set the recovery phone number in settings. I can't get into settings without the pin. I just started having this problem recently, before I could access the app without it asking for a pin.
I tried to connect it to an avast account, but I can't figure out how to do that on the site, it keeps redirecting me to download avast to my computer.
I uninstalled and re installed, no help there. I am almost positive that I did install anti theft on my mobile phone, but when I reinstalled it immediately asks for a pin so I can't get into anything to review what is there. Is there any way to fix this?

Will Avast! be including the ability to add a recovery phone number from the online Avast! web interface?

It would be very helpful if the PIN number is lost and the recovery number was never added. Having to uninstall and do factory resets (losing all data, etc) is a draconian way to resolve a seemingly easy fix.

I still don't know my PIN and am about to run out of attempts and so am stuck in an infinite loop of not being able to add a recovery number (because I don't know the PIN), and to be able to install/turn on the anti-theft function.

It seems the software is almost there, but not quite.  Will the next iteration of the software resolve this problem?

I don't think the next version will contain this, sorry.
