Network shield prevents access to router web setup - Avast 1474

I have same problem - also metro apps are blocked - InTune, Windows Mail (I could not activate account for this forum by clicking the link from Windows mail)

SOMETHING IS ROTTEN - My license expires in 58 days ... then I am looking for other options more compatible with Win8 because it took me so far 1 day to troubleshoot why is stuff broken - blaming everything else but Avast ....

Hi, shame on us. We now know for sure, it was a mistake to buy any source code from Agnitum/Outpost, but we are really working hard on eliminating all the bugs and rewriting it. It will soon be better, thats all I can say now. Sorry!

Sometimes some websites seems to load longer than expected and/or some elements are missing. Most of the time on Facebook.

This also happens on rare occasions with Win XP.

Disabled the "Network Shield" temporarily and all is fine. And it does not drop the internet connection. This will be temporary until a solution has been found.

after upgrading to windows 8 and spending hours on what I thought was a network/browser browser problem  trying to connect to my sky router and NAS admin web page I finally discovered that this is an avast problem

Any update on when this problem will be fixed?
if not soon what version of avast is it not broken on and where can I download it from?

Yes I know that all I have to do is to disable shields but whats the point of having shields if you have to disable them??

 I installed avast8test5 and no more problems, the note on the the Beta web page says Windows 8 is not supported which surprised me for a new release...

The new interface takes some getting used to,  I just hope that with all the additions and improvements that avast does not go the way of Norton etc hogging all the resources and slowing down the system.

Even with the new tools I have not noticed any slowdown at all, as they are only run as required

Well that was short lived; upgrading to V8 fixed the web admin of my sky router and NAS box but gave me a more serious problem that whenever my laptop awoke from sleep mode  the screen was either blank or the new look Windows 8 blue screen of death.

reverted back to a backup image I took before installing V8 and back to my original problem.... the lesser of 2 evils

no point in reporting this to avast as they do state that windows 8 is unsupported in the V8 Beta notes.

- XP performance problem solved
- Automatic Profile detection in the firewall on Win7 solved
- No information popup on controlled PC when client is connected via avast! AccessAnywhere

Now it detects my Router Web Setup as a malware.

BTW This is WinXP SP3.



Disabled the Network Shield just to access the Router Web Setup, then that pops-up!

Please report it as a false positive - if it really is - this has no connection with Network shield, this is standard script detection inside VPS detected on some scripts on your router interface. Possibly false positive.

I guess it wasn't false positive after all. I would recommend a full scan.

But that file is in the router web setup (by accessing the web setup).

And im just accessing the router's web interface.

How could it be infected with a virus?
