Win32:Patched-AKC [Trj]
« on: October 27, 2012, 12:50:19 AM »
So tired of hackers.  Anyway, I downloaded a program carelessly that I thought was a schematics drawing program, turned out to be very aggressive toolbar.  I got everything removed except for this gem, so I need help with this due to where it is at.  I don't want to just go deleting when it comes to files where this thing is located.  Logs attached.

hi HalpMyComputerBroke,

As far as deleting infected files go, don't.  Always choose quarantining over deleting.  Once a file is deleted, it is gone forever.

services.exe is infected on your computer.  As it is a necessary system file, Windows will be broken without it should delete be the chosen option; do not quarantine this file either.

Our volunteer malware experts are trained to deal with this sort of infection and repair your system without damaging it further.  They will get your services.exe back to clean for you; follow all instructions to the letter.

The run command option on my start menu is missing, but I know the keyboard shortcut for it so it doesn't matter.  Otherwise I can't tell yet, I was gonna run an avast scan for it later today when I get back from work, here are the logs tell me how they look!

Combofix replaced the infected file, OTL removed the respawners ...  So all should be good.  Let me know of any outstanding problems
