Avast conundrum on certain website
« on: November 01, 2012, 02:21:43 PM »
long story short, i have 2 computers at home and 1 at work. they are all running avast and are up to date in every form and fashion with avast. there is a certain website however that seems to be tripping just my home computers up.

http://forums.eog.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 trips both systems at home as malware (see below pic). however my work system triggers nothing.

this site has been around since 2005 and the owners state that there is nothing malicious about it. after looking around this seems to have been around some time but doesn't affect all avast users.

why would my work computer not trigger it yet my 2 home systems will?

for me this started this past saturday. only then it didn't pop up the malware notice. it just wouldn't load the page. i disabled the shields and of course all was well. i've had avast installed for years and have been a member of that forum for some time while having avast installed.

today however, i guess maybe after an uninstall/reinstall, i finally get the malware popup.

still running smooth on my work computer.

and yes, avast is the only thing i have installed as far as AV software and they are all up to date

is there anything i can do to bypass having that url flagged without disabling the shields?

also, why doesn't my work computer flag it?
