« on: November 04, 2012, 07:39:14 PM »
Anyone using this ?

I just installed it as I managed to get a free subscription for a year following their recent promo.

Any comments welcomed.

Nothing to hide so no reason to use a VPN :)

Me neither really. Just thought that encrypted browsing would be beneficial over non-encrypted ?

I believe that is true, but I wouldn't pay for it. :)

Maybe, it's definitely slower. :)

Hi Andyonline,

I could see encryption of images could help in the light of this new malcode described here: http://blog.trendmicro.com/trendlabs-security-intelligence/malware-steals-image-files-from-systems/    Link article by Raymart Paraiso (Threat Response Engineer).
You could use AxCrypt to encrypt images. This tip came from Peter V (thanks Peter)  in this posting link: javascript:quote_comment(302958) with this article link: http://www.security.nl/artikel/43790/1/Virus_steelt_foto%27s_van_Windows-computers.html

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

I have noticed two drawbacks.

Cyberghost is a bloatware ( The UI is heavy and takes a lot of time) compared to other vpns and uses only 128-bit AES key.

There is a freeware vpn though that is better

http://www.spotflux.com

It not only encrypts the communication but removes ads and malwares.

I would kind of like to download that program but I'm afraid I would mess something up on my computer.  :-\

As I managed to get a free ysr with Cyberghost, thats why I used them. I did see that Avast have Secureline which I may go with if I dont get on with what I have. Also Secureline would be another expense on top of Avast Internet Security, although I would say that AIS really does protect my PC very well and maybe Secureline will be yet another greest product by Avast and will take my protection that bit further !

I did read reports that Hotpot Shield is pretty good but a lot of annoying ads with the free version.

Thanks for that, it looks interesting but I will wait a bit as its a fairly young program so I will see how it develops.

Spotflux doesn't messes up with any settings. It will install Java if you don't have Java installed already. Other than that, there is nothing.

You may want to untick Dashline Password Manager when installing it

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who is/or has used 'Avast Secureling  VPN service.
How was the experience? Does the service provide for  easy Internet surfing without hang times and droppage of service?
It's unfortunate there is not 'free trial'
Any thoughts please. :)

Sorry, should have started new thread. ::) :-\

Unless you need VPN service, why would you even consider such a program ???
