Windows 7 reporting no AV installed

Hi All

A one day old install of windows 7 ult. has started reporting that no antivirus is installed. And of course Avast Internet Security is installed. M$ claims it's the responsibility of the the vendor to ensure their product is informing windows of it's presence. Is there any easy way to verify that the install is informing the os that it is present? I'm getting the impression that Avast does inform win7 at install time and then win7 seems to forget.

p.s. I am aware that I can disable the messaging about the issue. I am also aware of the WMI rebuild fix. Thanks anyway.

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
