scam

after purchasing avast system clean up, for $99.00, the amount was taken from my bank account. While I watched, avast downloaded all sorts of so called anti malware on my computer such as killbill, system mechanic, and many more.  I phoned them to complain and was all but cursed out by a very rude person who told me they do not charge that amount, and never download anything.  I had a copy of my hard drive made, so I could delete all the garbage that was downloaded. They have not refunded the money, even though I sent them a copy of their withdrawal from my account.  As for me, I will never use them again, and I have found four other in my area who have had the same problem with avast.  We intend to turn it over to our state  fraud investigators as well as our state representives to get it cleared up, as avast is in denial mode.  (as usual)

This is as you suggest a scam, but it has nothing to do with avast. I'm an avast user not an avast employee, so I can't speak for them. I have seen one other topic recently on a similar scam, but they recognised it as a scam and wouldn't pay for the clean-up.

I know of no 'avast system clean-up' product.

How did you come to purchase this, you must have gone somewhere or had some sort of scam pop-up ?
