Seems like a Mac problem and most of us are Windows users. When you disable Avast can you access Gmail? You dont need an av with a Mac anyways.

If you're going to give out advice, please get your facts straight first.
Mac's aren't immune from infection and the more popular they become,
the more attacks become available.
