hi GokaiGold,

If it is either site blocking or it is block by category, this might interest you:  http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions

You can get the free version of OpenDNS here:  http://www.opendns.com/business-solutions/premium-dns/benefits

Should get you to thinking.  Why use the manual options within Avast! when you can use this?  Seems a bit more work that way.

Read all related materials within the site to get an idea if this will do what you need it to do.

Business/commercial solutions are also available.

Thank you for that, Pondus,

Kids here are grown, so unaware of Parental Control feature as I do not need it.  Should help the OP investigate whether OpenDNS meets their needs or not.

EDIT:

@ GokaiGold,

Sorry about the above.  BTW, it is not possible to double-post here as it is your thread that you started.

Can someone please clarify this? Is it a known trait of Avast that using its site blocking feature slows down computers. I probably have about 20 sites entered (Vista).
