Avast firewall NDIS miniport on Windows 8

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
In Device Manager I see Avast firewall NDIS miniport on Windows 8 with a yellow mark.
I removed the inf-files  containing "aswNdis" and reinstalled Avast Internet Security.
The problem now is that when I try to update the driver from Device Manager, I get a message that Windows found the driver software, but encountered an error. Access denied.
What do I do about that.
There is another device with the yellow mark. PCI simple communications controller.
Could that be the cause of the NDIS miniport problem or vice versa?.

I tried turning self-defense off and restarting 3 times.
Problem gone and stayed away after turning on self-defense.
