Avast does not automatically update in Windows 8.
« on: November 23, 2012, 03:40:48 PM »
When I use Avast Free antivirus on my Windows 8 laptop, Avast does not automatically update itself. I must manually update it. I have installed the latest version of Avast and it is set to auto-update, but still I must update Avast manually. Why ?  If you have the solution to my problem,  let me know.    Thank you!

I don't really know. All I know is the laptop is still plugged into power and my laptop automatically
starts-up as soon as I lift up the lid, I don't have to press the power button.
There is something 'fishy' going on with my laptop, it's new to me.

I shut-down my laptop at the end of the day.

Unfortunately that appears to be a problem with windows 8 that no-one has considered until the system went live

I assume they are trying to see if there is a fix of sorts.  I do not notice that on my system but it is dual boot with windows 7

Yes there is a glitch in Windows 8 that prevents Avast from updating automatically.
I have Avast Free installed on a Windows 7 laptop that I use with no problems.
Windows 8 is the problem ! My Windows 8 laptop boots-up just by opening the lid,
this is weird ! lol.
