Advice please, on how to set up avast4 to scan incoming MSN Messenger posts. I know where to enter the info, but don't know what to put in the box.

You can put full path to ashQuick.exe to the box (the file is in the avast folder).

Thanks

Assuming that you installed avast! in the default folder, this is the path needed to scan downloads, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I am on Windows 98se, Internet Explorer 6, Avast4, Messenger 6.2
In Messenger, if I go to Tools - Options - Messages
There is a box for entering the anitvirus programme to be used by Messenger.
I am not very techno aware, but if I remember correctly, I had c:\programme files\Grisoft\AVGFree\exe
entered in the box. I have removed that as I am no longer on AVG.
Am currently having problems signing it to Messenger.
As posted by Vlk do I just need to enter "ashQuick.exe"?
Thanks for any help.

If your using Windows 2000/XP avast should automatically (transparently) set this up for you.
But not on Win 9x/ME.

Edit:

No, put C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe   in there
