Does it Work with Firefox extensions?
« on: February 10, 2005, 04:41:11 PM »
Will Avast look at and scan Firefox's extensions that are automatically installed from a webpage such as their update.mozilla.org extensions page?  Will it work with default settings or do I need to configure Avast specially and if so, what settings?
Should I download the xpi's and then scan and then install?
I didn't see this question anyplace so I thought I'ld ask.

The extensions usually have an xpi extension.

MarcZ,

I have avast standard shield set to high and scan everything, i checked and avast does scan my firefox extensions (tested with Firefox 1.0 and Print It 2.1 extension).

If you want to check for yourself, click the avast "A" ball in your taskbar (next to your system clock), then select 'standard shield' on the left and click 'customize' on the right, then select the 'Advanced' tab and check 'Show detailed infomation on preformed action', this will show you everything avast is scanning.
