Maxthon

I use Maxthon for my browser, which I believe users the IE engine (I don't know the technicalities of how the two programs integrate). Does that mean that script blocking works for Maxthon as well as Internet Explorer? What exactly does the script blocking feature do anyway and does it affect/protect other areas of the PC? How can you tell if it's working?

You can consider Maxthon as a shell that uses the IE rendering engine. Anything Avast! does for IE, it does for Maxthon too.

It's a good practice to use Maxthon instead of IE. It's better configurable than IE is. Especially the section "options>download controls" has some very useful features. Read the Maxthon manual in "Help>Maxthon Help".
