How do I Delete Malware "iltili"???
« on: December 07, 2012, 04:46:19 PM »
All of a sudden I've noticed that my IE9 is running very sluggishly and I keep getting these iltili.com popups.  After a little investigation I see that this is malware and am wondering if anyone can help me with getting it removed?

I also use Chrome and Firefox, and have noticed that they, too, are a bit sluggish, but have not had any popups from them to date.  Could they be infected, too?

And 2.  wondering why Avast didn't catch this?

Thanks for any help.

Ad pop-ups generally don't come under malware heading.

Have you recently installed a toolbar to supposedly improve your browsing experience/search performance etc. etc. ?

I find nothing on a domain search for iltili.com so is that address correct ?

Thanks for responding, David.

I guess I misnamed it, it's being referred to as a virus when I did the lookup again, and I'm surprised that you didn't find it...that address is what pops-up in the new window, iltili.com, plus when you Google it there are all kinds of links re: how to get rid of it, but it appears that the ones I clicked on were selling their services, hence why I came to the Avast forum, since that is what I use for my PC.

And probably yes, on the toolbars.  Although I do not accept new toolbars when offered in any downloads, sometimes they do seem to appear anyways, and I just recently downloaded 2 games, so that might explain it.

Do you think if I did a new scan for viruses, this one might be detected?  By what I've read, it appears that this iltili virus is hard for virus protection programs to detect by the way it hides itself???  Sorry I'm not more learned on computer speak, or maybe I could express myself better so that you might understand... :'(

Thanks.

Googling is somewhat different I was looking specifically for that domain (whois) and there is no record of it.

Even when googling for it the top two hits indicate the domain is for sale, e.g. available. The third is your topic and the forth hit also shows the domain name if free.

So if that domain isn't active then I can't see how it can be serving up the ad pop-ups.

You can try MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later. Download, Install, Update, Run and post the contents of the log.
