Logs/Crash Dump File
« on: November 28, 2012, 10:04:48 AM »
I recently discovered that the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\log" directory holds about 116 GB of 'Crash Dump Files'. I was wondering if it is safe to delete such files manually. Also, are there any ways to limit such copious amounts from reoccurring again?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have read the thread. My "usntr" log file in the directory is fine-- its only about 3 Megabytes. What I'm concerned about are the huge Crash Dump Files that are taking up a significant amount of space on my C drive.  Is it safe to manually delete the Crash Dump Files?

If it are log files, it is always safe to delete them.
Meaning it will not break anything, but you can loose information you need to fix a problem.
