Problem, please help me!
« on: December 10, 2012, 01:20:21 PM »
Today I scanned my computer with Avast Free and finally told me that some xcell files from Microsoft Office cannot be scanned or are corrupted. I gave apply move to chest by mistake and now when I want to open them it tell me:" The drive or network connection that that the shortcut is unavailable. make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resources is available, and then try again".  And my Local D is blocked too. We urgently need to open those files. What to do? Please help me.

you can restore them from virus chest. open virus chest, select the file, right click and restore

you say you got a message from avast about files it could not scan....and the reason why

that is not a detection....just a avast scan error message
files that can not be scanned are just that and does not mean they are infected.....so avast will not take any action on those files....
it is normal to have some files that can not be scanned

You cant click apply on scan errors......the apply button will be gray and none working beacuse it is not a infection

i dont think the problem is related to avast......i will send a pm the malware expert so he can have a look here

It does not sound like an Avast problem as corrupted and unscannable files have no action attached to them

Download OTL  to your Desktop
Secondary link
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
netsvcs
BASESERVICES
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
/md5start
services.*
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
winsock.*
/md5stop
CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Post  both logs
