Spros Updates/SpeedyPc
« on: December 15, 2012, 10:09:09 AM »
http://www.surfright.nl/en

Download and installed HitmanPro 3.7 last evening which was a huge mistake.  I read all of the information about the program before downloading and installing it.  Showed it scanned for malware but when I ran the program it showed only tracking cookies so I had them deleted.  After that I couldn't see any images on Facebook, could not view my pictures so I thought I had ruined my computer.  I uninstalled the program, then tried to do a system restore but was unable to.  Got an error message saying "access denied."

I will never, ever download a program that shows it safe, when in fact it's not.  At least not in my case this program wasn't.

My question now is how do I get system restore to work?  I really don't want to change my computer back to the factory settings.

This time I'm super serious.  After I restarted my computer everything was fine with the exception of not being able to do a system restore.  It did show something about HitmanPro after I restarted, then loaded all of my programs normally.

-midnight when are you ever going to learn not to download anything before you ask, now you might be in deep trouble with W7 however Hitman Pro can over write the windows settings if you didn't check before you install Hitman Pro. -midnight when was the last time you did a complete W7 image backup on you're PC or laptop before you install Hitman Pro

I'm not having any problems with my computer, with the exception of not being able to do a system restore.  I've never done a complete W7 image backup on my PC.  I can see all images and my pictures.

A win7 image backup has nothing to do with viewing images/pictures; it is about backing up your system, by using disk imaging software. Or in the Windows 7 Image backup function from the Control Panel > Backup and Restore > Create a System Image.

The disk imaging software is probably more user friendly/flexible than the win7 Backup and Restore and makes an exact image of a partition/disk which enables you to restore your system to 'exactly' how it was at the time of the drive image backup being created.

Okay I do NOT trust system restore at all not one bit and forget about system restore and start using W7 image backup, however I'm still learning about W7 because I've bought my new laptop about 2 months with W7 Pro. I always do a complete W7 image backup before before I do anything to my laptop otherwise I'm a dead man, FIRST are you okay so far on you're W7 before you do a complete image backup that it may required some further PC/laptop house cleaning before you start the backup.

I'm going to ask someone at a higher level to give you a complete and very careful instruction on how to do a complete W7 image backup please don't rely on me, and forget about system restore forever and only used W7 image backup and W7 image restore backup because this will save you're bare painful backside before you even sit down peacefully. However I cannot help -midnight behind the W7 as I'm still learning on W7 so I can't really see how I could fix her problem since she already uninstalled Hitman Pro, system restore may not just solve the problem because their might be further problems along the way before she start the complete W7 image backup.

See if this helps you start System Restore:

Make sure that System Restore is enabled on the drives where you want System Restore enabled
To do this follow these steps:
Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
If the System Restore is enabled, the Status column of a drive will show Monitoring.
If not, you can clear to clear the Turn off System Restore on all drives, and then click OK to enable it..

If that solves your problem, smile and stop testing new programs.
The next time you may not be so lucky.

Done a System Restore and everything is fine.  Thankfully, this HitmanPro didn't do any damage to my computer.  I'm seriously done with testing any new programs.

Hitman Pro's job isn't to harm your computer. Just the opposite but,
like with all programs of this type, it's not meant for the novice.

Exactly what is the program supposed to do?   I thought it was scanning for malware but instead it scanned tracking cookies.   How could deleting those cookies have messed up my computer?
