I just tried, the avast5.ini value mentioned earlier (ShellExtensionFileName=-1) still works.
If you disable Avast self-defense temporarily and edit the file as an (elevated) administrator, you must be able to modify the file.

(Yes, the confirmation window that used to appear when modifying avast5.ini via Notepad.exe with self-defense enabled, that doesn't seem to work now.)

Try what I have posted earlier in this topic: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=111502.msg1497691#msg1497691
It works on Windows 10 and also should on previous versions.

i tried it. it didnt work. if i did it correctly.

Did you try rebooting afterwards? If yes, then this should work:
1. Use ShellEx and locate Avast.
2. Right click on it and click on "Open CLSID In RegEdit".
3. Make a backup (right click on that registry key and then "Export" and save).
4. Delete that registry key (you need to click on that selected folder on the left pane, same goes for point 3).
5. Reboot.

If you will want to restore it simply open the file you exported. It should add it to the registry (with a popup message).
thanks man. it worked when deleting the folder from regedit.
