Department of Justice Money Pak virus

I just got this virus on my new Windows 7 computer. It completely freezes the system, including not allowing me to boot in Safe Mode.  Now, dumb me, does not have a rescue disk, but I do have the original Windows 7 disk; although I"m not sure what good the recovery disk would do me..

Also, if I can't get this resolved within the 48 hours the virus is allowing me to part with $300, does passing this time without resolution do any further damage to the computer? I have it turned off now. I'm typing this on another machine, Windows XP.

I have Avast Pro installed on the infected computer, FYI. It did tell me it had found a virus, but I don't think it gave me any options of what to do. Obviously, at this point , that isn't pertinent.

Any guidance on this , please?
