This was already anounced in another thread.
Perhaps the mods can merge them.

Just some questions:

What if you are not a customer?
Can you buy it?
How much will it cost then?

I don't see a thread on this announcement that's going to be free except this one.

Here's a link to a video of Gates talking about the Spyware utility, and how it works.

Microsoft haters don't have to get it, it's not forced on you ;D

Pick their own choice of Internet Browsers

I'm glad they will be offering it for free.  Also it's nice to finally hear they are about to beta test the next IE and it'll be for WinXP SP2  ;D

Well I see you did make a post in a thread "Eye catching (comp related) news".  But I wouldn't consider that thread to be one that's specifically about this subject.
Is someone to read every post someone makes before they can start a thread?

I read http://www.dailyrotation.com/index.shtml for most computer related news, so hardly ever read "Eye catching (comp related) news" because it's old news to me after reading the news pages I read before I come to the avast forum.

It seems that people are  kind of jumped on if they post something that has been said in another post they were not aware of.  Maybe there should be a rule to never post anything unless you spend couple of hours searching and reading everything on this forum.  I have seen new people post a question, and instead of giving them a link to the answer they are just told that has been answered already and they should do a search.

I think 99% of the people who come to this forum don't live here and are not aware of everything that's been posted.  I know for myself anyway that I have to many other things in my life to keep me busy, so I can't spend hours at this place...I pop in when I have some free time.

I didn't junp on you or any one else. All I did was make you aware of the fact that the info was already posted.
I don't think that's a reason to get upset. ;D

Sorry if you read into what I said as if I was upset.  If I was upset I could have used this  >:( but I didn't.  Not really upset at all, just don't like it when I see a poster jumped on for a post they make.  I didn't say you jumped on me or anyone else. If someone makes a post and it's been dealt with before give them the link if you know it, should be easy for the regulars to give a link since they know most every post.

Because of the nature of typing out words many times people are misunderstood, no voice tones, facial expressions, etc, so some caution is needed in replying to someone. A person can even make a mistake using the emotioncons for their feelings.  The   ;D could be menant in a sarcastic manner if a person chose to use it that way...you just never really know how it's meant at times.

a61,

I agree with you 100%.  I've made similar posts about this issue before.  Though I don't think bob was guilty of that just now.  :)  I've never seen bob act like that before.  It IS a problem though on MANY forums :(  SOME people act like you are supposed to live and breathe the forums...lol  This can be a big put off for newbies and make them feel VERY unwelcomed and they may mistake this behaviour as being endorsed by alwil.  If you are one of the people that helps users of avast in this forum then you should be as friendly and helpful as possible.

a61,

I fully understand where you are coming from with your comments. I personally have had conflicts about some of my posts that I made. It seems that some of mine should have been put in another thread started by another forum member/s. I chose not to do that and still will not do that if I deem it necessary to post something that I think will be of interest to anyone who might want to read about it where they can view my post easily.
And, also your correct about some of the responses to some of the new posts that are made, they are very short, to the point of being rude. I don't think that is the proper way to introduce someone new to this forum. But, I will continue to do things the way I have in that what I do does not infringe on the forums policy of do this and don't do that. Just thought I would throw my opinion into this discussion. Here by the way is my emoticon that I choose to use for this post.  :) Hope it's not misunderstood.
